Call to bookThe NBN plan often wears the blame for cabling and a badly placed router.
The NBN box often went in the garage or front room. The rooms that need Wi-Fi most end up furthest away.
Double brick, concrete and an upstairs floor soak up Wi-Fi. One router rarely covers a large or two-storey home properly.
Mesh units that pass data wirelessly lose speed at every hop. Cabling each one back to the router solves most of that.
Older phone wiring is often Cat3 or runs socket to socket. It was never made for gigabit and is not worth reusing.
Copper-clad aluminium cable and sloppy punch-downs cause slow links and dropouts that are hard to find without testing.
Badly joined or unsealed conduit outside lets water into the wall cavity, where it damages the cable and whatever else is there.

Most homes need a few of these together, and offices usually need the lot.

Wall points where the desk and TV sit, cabled to one spot. Cat6 suits most homes. Cat6A adds headroom for 10 gigabit.

We cable from the NBN box to where the router goes. NBN Co owns the box, so moving it follows their rules.

Runs end at a patch panel in a small wall rack, with the modem and switch. Each is labelled at both ends.

Ceiling access points run off one cable from the rack for power and data. They reach upstairs dead zones one router cannot.

Desk, printer and phone points cabled to a rack with room to grow. The power can go in on the same visit.

We trace dead or slow points and re-terminate or replace faulty runs. Leaking conduit gets redone, and every point is tested.
Good cabling is mostly deciding where everything ends up before the first cable is pulled.
We mark every data and access point, then choose a rack spot, usually by the NBN box or in a cupboard with power.
Most homes get Cat6. Cat6A goes in for long runs, 10 gigabit plans or lots of powered cameras and access points on one switch.
Cable goes through the roof and wall cavities, kept apart from power as the cabling rules require. Outside sections get sealed conduit.
Each run is terminated at a wall plate and the patch panel, and labelled at both ends for whoever traces it later.
Every run is tested end to end for continuity and correct wiring. Faults get fixed before furniture goes in front of the plate.
The modem, switch and access points get patched in and each point checked. Then we show you what goes where.
Photographs of jobs we finished and handed back. Our own work, not stock.

From the first phone call to the final test, this is how it runs.
Day or night. Tell us what is happening. If it sounds dangerous, we tell you what to switch off while we get moving.
Urgent faults go to the next available electrician. Planned work gets a set day so you are not waiting around.
We work out what is actually wrong on site rather than guessing over the phone. The visit costs you nothing.
Written down and explained before anyone starts. Nothing happens until you say yes.
Done to the Wiring Rules with the right parts. Dust sheets go down wherever we are working.
Every circuit we touch is tested before we leave. Where the law requires a compliance certificate, you get one.
The quote is the invoice. Our labour stays guaranteed for as long as you own the property.

Coming out to look costs nothing, day or night, whether you go ahead or not.
Agreed before work starts. The quote is the invoice.
If something unforeseen turns up, we stop and talk to you first.
If our workmanship fails, we come back and fix it, for as long as you own the property.
Our labour guarantee is extra to your rights under Australian Consumer Law and the NSW Home Building Act.
Most of these are frustrations rather than emergencies, except the first one.
Keep clear, turn that area off at the switchboard if safe, and ring us now.
Usually weak Wi-Fi at that end of the house. A wired desk point fixes it.
The router cannot reach that far, so put a cabled access point there.
Often the bottleneck is inside the house, not the NBN connection.
Everything starts at the box. Either run cable from it or have it moved.
They are probably linking over Wi-Fi. Cabling them back to the router helps a lot.
Usually a damaged cable or bad termination, which testing can find.
Nobody knows what goes where until a labelled patch panel sorts it out.
Water in a wall near power or cabling means ring us now, day or night. Book the rest whenever.

Homes want every room covered, while businesses want a network that copes all day and can grow.

Most homes want a wired desk and TV, plus access points on every floor. Renovations and new builds are the easiest time, while walls are open.

Offices need a network that holds up all day and a rack with room to grow. Doing power and data in one visit saves booking two trades.
We take data and network cabling right across Sydney, up the Central Coast and into the Blue Mountains. Open your area to find your suburb.

The hardest part of getting electrical work done in Sydney is not the work. It is finding someone who shows up when they said they would, tells you the price before they start, and does not leave you chasing them for a certificate afterwards.
Sydney is inside our normal run, as are Sydenham, Sydney, Sydney Olympic Park. We quote the whole job as one number before we start, and we do not charge to come and look at it.
Sydney has the mix you find across a lot of Sydney: older homes still running the board they were built with, sitting next to places that have been renovated two or three times. Both throw up their own problems, and both are jobs we do every week.
If your place in Sydney still has ceramic fuses or a board with no safety switch, that is the first thing worth sorting. It is also the thing insurers ask about most.
Age is the biggest single factor. Wiring installed decades ago was sized for a very different household, and insulation on older cable gets brittle and cracks, particularly in roof spaces that heat up through summer.
Water gets in more often than people expect. A roof leak above a light fitting, condensation in an outdoor outlet, or a subfloor that stays damp will all eventually cause tripping.
There is no honest way to put a single figure on this page, because the price depends on what is behind your wall. Anyone quoting you a firm number over the phone without seeing the job is guessing, and the gap between the guess and the invoice is usually yours to pay.
What we can promise is the shape of it. We come out and look for nothing, we work out what the job actually needs, and we give you one fixed number for the whole thing. If we find something unexpected once we are into it, we stop and talk to you rather than adding it to the bill. The number you agreed is the number on the invoice.
Plenty of electricians around Sydney charge by the hour. It sounds cheaper and often is not, because you are carrying all the risk. If the job takes longer than expected, that is your problem. If someone is slow, that is also your problem.
We price the job, not the time. That means we carry the risk of it taking longer, which is a good incentive for us to turn up prepared. It also means you can say yes or no with the full number in front of you.
Almost nothing, and that is not us protecting our own work. In New South Wales it is against the law for an unlicensed person to do fixed electrical wiring, and the insurance consequences of a fire traced back to unlicensed work are severe. Replacing a plug top on an appliance or changing a lamp is fine. Anything behind the wall or inside the board is not.
Before you call, switch off the appliance you suspect and see whether the problem goes away. If the board holds with that one thing unplugged, you have found it, and the visit gets much shorter.
If you rent, electrical repairs to the property itself are the owner's responsibility, and urgent electrical faults fall under urgent repairs in New South Wales. Talk to your agent first. If it is genuinely dangerous, say so clearly, because that changes how quickly it has to be dealt with.
If you manage a strata block around Sydney, we can work on common property and bill the body corporate directly, and we can keep the same electrician on your building so nobody is relearning the site every visit.
The ones we get asked most. If yours is not here, ring and ask.
Yes. In Australia, fixed cabling that connects to the telecommunications network, including data, phone and NBN cabling, must be installed by an ACMA-registered cabler or someone they directly supervise, though patch leads do not count. Afterwards the cabler should give you a TCA1 form or equivalent signed statement confirming compliance.
Sometimes, but it belongs to NBN Co. For most fixed line connections, a registered cabler can relocate it inside the home under NBN's rules, while outside work, fixed wireless and satellite go through NBN's own process. Often it is simpler to leave the box and run cable to where you want the router.
Both handle gigabit easily. Cat6A is thicker and carries 10 gigabit over the full 100 metre run, where Cat6 only manages it over shorter distances. Cat6 suits most homes, and Cat6A is worth it for offices, long runs and lots of powered gear.
Not for anything fast. Older phone cabling is often Cat3 or runs socket to socket, and was never made for gigabit data. New Cat6 back to a central point is the reliable fix.
Usually the router sits beside the NBN box at one end of the house, behind brick walls or a floor. Wireless mesh helps but loses speed between units. Cabled access points, or a data point where the device sits, fix it properly.
A common rule is two per bedroom or study, a few behind the TV, and one in the ceiling for each access point. Plan for where desks and TVs will be in five years, and add a spare run while the walls are open.
Every run is tested end to end for continuity and correct wiring before handover. Some offices and building managers want certification testing, which measures each run against its category standard and produces a report. If you need it, mention it when you book.
The number of points and how far each is from the rack, plus roof and underfloor access, wall type and whether you need a rack, patch panel and switch. Double brick and two-storey homes take longer. You get one fixed price after we walk through.
