Call to bookMost older Sydney homes were wired for a kettle, a TV and not much else.
Many older homes got one double power point per room. Add a home office and the boards pile up behind the couch.
A heater and kettle on one board, or boards plugged into boards, can overload the outlet and cook the plug.
Halogens chew through power and transformers. The insulation was usually pushed back around them, so the ceiling has cold spots.
A wall-mounted TV or a new study leaves outlets in the wrong place. Shifting one is simpler than most people expect.
Pool pumps and outdoor heaters often run off an indoor lead through a window. A weatherproof outdoor point is safer and tidier.
Unlit side paths and back steps trip people up and suit anyone who should not be there. A sensor light handles both.

Most jobs are a mix of these, priced together as one visit at one fixed price.

Double power points behind the TV or beside the bed, where you actually plug in. Cable runs inside the wall where possible.

Built-in USB-A and USB-C ports for the bedside or kitchen bench. Your phone charges without a plug pack hogging a socket.

IP-rated outlets with self-closing lids for the patio or shed. We mount them where rain and the hose cannot reach.

We swap halogens for IC-4 rated LEDs that insulation can safely cover. You pick warm or cool white room by room.

LED dimmers matched to the driver so lights dim without flicker or hum. We also do two-way switching for stairs and halls.

Motion sensor lights over the driveway and side gate, plus garden and deck lights on their own switch or timer.
The steps are the same for one power point or a house full of downlights.
We check the circuit at the switchboard first. If it is heavily loaded or has no safety switch, we tell you before quoting.
Heights and spots get agreed with you, then we check for timber framing and pipes behind the plaster before anything gets cut.
Cable drops from the roof space or comes up from under the floor. On double brick, you pick chasing or a neat surface run.
Downlights go in with the right cut-out and insulation goes back over IC-4 fittings. Dimmers get matched to the LED driver.
Every circuit we touched is tested for earth continuity, insulation resistance, polarity and the safety switch. The compliance certificate goes to Building Commission NSW.
We vacuum up the plaster dust and run you through any new dimmer or sensor settings. You keep a copy of the certificate.
Photographs of jobs we finished and handed back. Our own work, not stock.

From the first phone call to the final test, this is how it runs.
Day or night. Tell us what is happening. If it sounds dangerous, we tell you what to switch off while we get moving.
Urgent faults go to the next available electrician. Planned work gets a set day so you are not waiting around.
We work out what is actually wrong on site rather than guessing over the phone. The visit costs you nothing.
Written down and explained before anyone starts. Nothing happens until you say yes.
Done to the Wiring Rules with the right parts. Dust sheets go down wherever we are working.
Every circuit we touch is tested before we leave. Where the law requires a compliance certificate, you get one.
The quote is the invoice. Our labour stays guaranteed for as long as you own the property.

Coming out to look costs nothing, day or night, whether you go ahead or not.
Agreed before work starts. The quote is the invoice.

If our workmanship fails, we come back and fix it, for as long as you own the property.
Our labour guarantee is extra to your rights under Australian Consumer Law and the NSW Home Building Act.
Most of these are about convenience, but the first two mean stop using that outlet today.
Heat or scorching points to a loose connection or overload. Turn that circuit off now.
Arcing behind the plate is a fire risk. Turn the circuit off and ring us now.
Worn contacts grip badly and run hot, so that outlet needs replacing soon.
That room has outgrown its outlets, and extra fixed power points are the safe answer.
Halogen transformers fail and fittings overheat. That is usually the cue to switch to LED.
The old halogen dimmer probably does not suit LED. A matched LED dimmer fixes it.
An indoor lead in the wet is a shock risk that an outdoor weatherproof point removes.
It is a trip hazard and a security gap, which one sensor light sorts out.
The first two mean turn the circuit off and ring us, day or night. The rest can wait.

The work is similar, but homes and businesses usually want different things from it.

Usually a few extra power points or a downlight changeover. Landlords call between tenants about worn outlets and dead fittings.

Businesses need power where the desks and equipment sit. Strata buildings need common area lights that come on when they should.
We take power point and lighting work right across Sydney, up the Central Coast and into the Blue Mountains. Open your area to find your suburb.

Most people in Sydney do not go looking for an electrician until something has already stopped working. The light in the hallway starts flickering, the board trips every time the kettle goes on, or there is a smell near a power point that was not there yesterday. By that point you are not comparing five quotes, you want someone who answers the phone and can tell you what is actually wrong.
We work across Sydney and the suburbs around it, including Sydenham, Sydney, Sydney Olympic Park. The price is agreed before anything starts, coming out to look costs nothing, and the labour is guaranteed for as long as you own the place.
Sydney has the mix you find across a lot of Sydney: older homes still running the board they were built with, sitting next to places that have been renovated two or three times. Both throw up their own problems, and both are jobs we do every week.
If your place in Sydney still has ceramic fuses or a board with no safety switch, that is the first thing worth sorting. It is also the thing insurers ask about most.
Most homes in Sydney were wired for a fraction of what a modern household plugs in. Four outlets in a whole living room, none in the right place, and a kitchen running an air fryer, a microwave and a kettle off the same circuit. Adding outlets properly means checking the circuit can carry it, not just running another lead.
On lighting, the biggest single change is swapping halogen downlights for LED. Old halogens run hot, which is a genuine fire risk where insulation has been pushed up against them, and they cost a great deal more to run. Swapping them is usually quick.
If your lights dim when an appliance kicks in, that is worth mentioning. It often points at something upstream rather than the light itself.
Age is the biggest single factor. Wiring installed decades ago was sized for a very different household, and insulation on older cable gets brittle and cracks, particularly in roof spaces that heat up through summer.
Storms take a toll, especially on anything overhead. A surge through the supply can quietly damage a board or an appliance and the symptoms show up weeks later.
We do not publish a price for this, and you should be careful of anyone who does. Two houses in Sydney on the same street can need very different work depending on the age of the wiring and what has been added to it over the years.
What we can promise is the shape of it. We come out and look for nothing, we work out what the job actually needs, and we give you one fixed number for the whole thing. If we find something unexpected once we are into it, we stop and talk to you rather than adding it to the bill. The number you agreed is the number on the invoice.
The usual model in this trade is a call out fee plus an hourly rate plus parts. You find out the total when it is finished. We think that is backwards, so we quote the job instead of the clock.
We price the job, not the time. That means we carry the risk of it taking longer, which is a good incentive for us to turn up prepared. It also means you can say yes or no with the full number in front of you.
Almost nothing, and that is not us protecting our own work. In New South Wales it is against the law for an unlicensed person to do fixed electrical wiring, and the insurance consequences of a fire traced back to unlicensed work are severe. Replacing a plug top on an appliance or changing a lamp is fine. Anything behind the wall or inside the board is not.
Before you call, switch off the appliance you suspect and see whether the problem goes away. If the board holds with that one thing unplugged, you have found it, and the visit gets much shorter.
If you rent, electrical repairs to the property itself are the owner's responsibility, and urgent electrical faults fall under urgent repairs in New South Wales. Talk to your agent first. If it is genuinely dangerous, say so clearly, because that changes how quickly it has to be dealt with.
If you manage a strata block around Sydney, we can work on common property and bill the body corporate directly, and we can keep the same electrician on your building so nobody is relearning the site every visit.
The ones we get asked most. If yours is not here, ring and ask.
The wall type matters most. A framed wall with roof space above is quick, while double brick needs chasing. Cable length, access, and whether you need a new circuit or safety switch also count, and you get one fixed price first.
Often, yes. If the circuit already carries a lot or has no safety switch, adding more is poor practice. We check at the switchboard and tell you if a new circuit or safety switch is the better option.
It means ceiling insulation can safely sit against and over the downlight. Older fittings needed a clear gap around them, which leaves cold patches, and they become a fire risk if insulation later covers them. Loose-fill insulation is a separate case, so we check your ceiling before quoting.
Usually the dimmer was made for halogen and does not suit LED drivers, so lights flicker, hum or will not dim properly. A failing driver or loose connection can do it too. The fix is normally a matched dimmer, not new globes.
Sometimes. Halogens on a 12 V transformer need an LED globe that suits that transformer, or you get flicker and early failures. A complete IC-4 rated LED fitting with its own driver is usually more reliable.
No. In NSW, changing a light globe is about the only electrical job a homeowner can legally do. Replacing a power point or light fitting needs a licensed electrician.
Yes. In NSW, installing, adding or replacing power points and light fittings needs a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, even for like-for-like swaps. We lodge it with Building Commission NSW and give you a copy, which is worth keeping for insurance and resale.
Yes, but your landlord or agent has to approve it first, ideally in writing. Plenty agree to extra outlets or an LED upgrade, and you can pass our quote on to the agent.
