Call to bookPlenty of Sydney houses still run on wiring sized for a fridge, a radio and a few lights.
Common in homes wired before about the 1960s. The insulation crumbles with age, and many of those circuits have no earth.
Rewireable fuses protect the cable, not people. Without safety switches, nothing cuts the power fast enough if someone touches something live.
Add split systems, an induction cooktop and an EV charger, and an older board and mains may not cope.
Each owner added circuits their own way. Years later you find mixed cable, overloaded circuits and joins buried in the ceiling.
Summer heat in Sydney roof spaces ages cable insulation, and rats chew what is left. The result is random trips.
In beachside suburbs, meter boxes and outdoor fittings corrode faster, so connections loosen and water gets in.

This is the bigger, usually planned work that changes how safe and usable a house is.

Old cable through the roof and subfloor gets replaced and earthed, in stages, so you can keep living there.

Ceramic fuses make way for circuit breakers and safety switches on every circuit, with space left for solar or an EV.
Our own job photo
Circuits without safety switches get them, so a fault cuts the power before it can hurt anyone.

We replace alarms past their ten-year life with hardwired, interconnected ones, so one going off sets off the rest.

Power points go where you actually use them, and LED downlights replace hot halogens room by room.

First we check your board and mains can take the EV charger or induction cooktop, then each gets its own circuit.
Whole-home work starts with knowing what you have, so we test before we quote.
We check the switchboard, meter box and roof space, and ask how you use the house and what you plan to add.
Insulation resistance and earth continuity tests show how sound the cable is. That decides between a full rewire, a partial one or neither.
We split safety problems from nice-to-haves, so you can do the urgent work now and the rest later. Each item has a fixed price.
Work goes circuit by circuit or room by room, planned so the fridge and at least some lights are running overnight.
We test every circuit and trip-test each safety switch. After lodging the CCEW, we show you how to test them yourself.
Photographs of jobs we finished and handed back. Our own work, not stock.

From the first phone call to the final test, this is how it runs.
Day or night. Tell us what is happening. If it sounds dangerous, we tell you what to switch off while we get moving.
Urgent faults go to the next available electrician. Planned work gets a set day so you are not waiting around.
We work out what is actually wrong on site rather than guessing over the phone. The visit costs you nothing.
Written down and explained before anyone starts. Nothing happens until you say yes.
Done to the Wiring Rules with the right parts. Dust sheets go down wherever we are working.
Every circuit we touch is tested before we leave. Where the law requires a compliance certificate, you get one.
The quote is the invoice. Our labour stays guaranteed for as long as you own the property.
Step one is a phone call0449 154 812
You can hold us to these on every job.
Coming out to look costs nothing, day or night, whether you go ahead or not.
Agreed before work starts. The quote is the invoice.
If something unforeseen turns up, we stop and talk to you first.
If our workmanship fails, we come back and fix it, for as long as you own the property.
Our labour guarantee is extra to your rights under Australian Consumer Law and the NSW Home Building Act.
Any one is worth a look, and two or three together usually means more than a quick fix.
The board is probably decades old, with no safety switches. Plan an upgrade.
Without a "T" button, there is usually no safety switch protecting the house.
Those circuits probably have no earth, which points to very old wiring.
Circuits are near their limit or connections are loose. Have it tested before adding more load.
Insulation that falls apart when touched leaves bare conductors. Book a rewire assessment.
Chained power boards overheat, so you need more outlets.
Alarms last about ten years. No readable date usually means they are due.
A connection behind it is overheating. Stop using it and ring now.
The one marked urgent needs a call today. For the rest, the look-over is free and the price is fixed.

The hardest part of getting electrical work done in Sydney is not the work. It is finding someone who shows up when they said they would, tells you the price before they start, and does not leave you chasing them for a certificate afterwards.
Sydney is inside our normal run, as are Sydenham, Sydney, Sydney Olympic Park. We quote the whole job as one number before we start, and we do not charge to come and look at it.
Sydney has the mix you find across a lot of Sydney: older homes still running the board they were built with, sitting next to places that have been renovated two or three times. Both throw up their own problems, and both are jobs we do every week.
A lot of the calls we get from Sydney start the same way: the board trips, someone resets it, and a week later it trips again. That pattern usually means a fault worth finding properly.
A lot of it is previous work. Extensions, added outlets and half finished jobs by whoever was cheapest at the time. You end up with a system nobody has ever looked at as a whole.
Storms take a toll, especially on anything overhead. A surge through the supply can quietly damage a board or an appliance and the symptoms show up weeks later.
The real answer is that it depends on the condition of what is already there. That is not a dodge, it is why we come and look before quoting rather than pricing blind over the phone.
What we can promise is the shape of it. We come out and look for nothing, we work out what the job actually needs, and we give you one fixed number for the whole thing. If we find something unexpected once we are into it, we stop and talk to you rather than adding it to the bill. The number you agreed is the number on the invoice.
An hourly rate puts the risk on you. Every delay, every trip back to the van, every part that turns out to be the wrong one lands on your invoice. That is the opposite of what most people in Sydney actually want, which is to know the number before they say yes.
We price the job, not the time. That means we carry the risk of it taking longer, which is a good incentive for us to turn up prepared. It also means you can say yes or no with the full number in front of you.
Almost nothing, and that is not us protecting our own work. In New South Wales it is against the law for an unlicensed person to do fixed electrical wiring, and the insurance consequences of a fire traced back to unlicensed work are severe. Replacing a plug top on an appliance or changing a lamp is fine. Anything behind the wall or inside the board is not.
What you can usefully do is narrow it down before you ring. Note which circuit trips, whether it trips straight away or after something specific gets switched on, and whether it started after a storm or a new appliance. That saves time on site.
If you rent, electrical repairs to the property itself are the owner's responsibility, and urgent electrical faults fall under urgent repairs in New South Wales. Talk to your agent first. If it is genuinely dangerous, say so clearly, because that changes how quickly it has to be dealt with.
If you manage a strata block around Sydney, we can work on common property and bill the body corporate directly, and we can keep the same electrician on your building so nobody is relearning the site every visit.
The ones we get asked most. If yours is not here, ring and ask.
We test first, because age alone does not decide it. Rubber or cloth-covered cable, circuits with no earth and insulation results below the standard do. Often only part of the house needs doing.
Usually, yes. We work in stages and plan each day so the fridge and some lights are on overnight, and we tell you in advance when the power will be off for changeovers.
Not usually. Most new cable runs through the roof space and under the floor, then drops down inside the existing wall cavities. Double brick or a slab may need small access cuts, and we show you where before we start.
Under the wiring rules, yes for new and altered circuits, and a switchboard replacement brings in protection for the circuits on that board. Existing homes are not generally forced to retrofit, but the NSW Government recommends safety switches on all circuits.
In NSW the legal minimum is at least one working smoke alarm complying with AS 3786 on every level. Fire and Rescue NSW recommends interconnected alarms in bedrooms, hallways and living areas, and new homes and major renovations need hardwired alarms. Every service we book includes a free smoke alarm assessment.
It depends on the board, the mains cable and your supply, so we do a load check first. Sometimes a new circuit is all it takes; other times it means a board or supply upgrade, which we explain before you commit.
Mostly the size of the house, the number of storeys, access to the roof and subfloor, and what the walls are made of. A double brick terrace takes more work than a plasterboard house with good roof access. You get one fixed price before we start.
Yes. In NSW, residential work over $5,000 including GST needs a written contract, and we provide one. The quote, the contract and the final invoice all show the same fixed price.
